BABC COVID-19 Statement and Resources

Check out BABC’s plans for modified outdoor club rides starting in April!

While we all take steps to limit our face-to-face interactions and work together to maintain responsible social behavior to slow the impact of this virus on our society and communities as much as possible, it is increasingly important to maintain healthy routines including exercise in your daily lives as the pandemic develops day-by-day. BABC is dedicated to our continuing work of encouraging and promoting healthy behaviors and exercise to protect the health of our member athletes and their families, friends, and the communities around us. Please review the important information gathered below to help you make good decisions during these unprecedented days and join us as we make the best of the time it will take us to overcome this currently-unfolding situation together.

Information about the local COVID-19 situation

All 2020 BABC group rides and events are postponed until recommended otherwise by local and national public health officials. We endorse continuing your training with indoor or solo outdoor rides while following your local health system’s recommendations and quarantine rules.

If local health officials prohibit outdoor riding, or when BABC members plan to ride indoor due to weather or illness, we will host virtual public club rides on Zwift for local cyclists to ride with us and to allow members to earn 2020 club “miles” during these exceptional circumstances. BABC will be running modified outdoor club rides starting in April 2020!

Indoor club miles during the COVID-19 outbreak

  1. You must be a dues-current club member: Join BABC and our private Strava club for official mile tallying. Strava is free and you can log rides with your phone or enter your activities manually for miles credit if you use apps other than Zwift for your indoor riding

  2. Watch our Strava club and Facebook page for events or follow BABC members in Zwift (start with Randy Simpson) to receive invites to Zwift meetups and group rides tagged #BABC

  3. With the expectation that our individual schedules and mobility may be affected during the crisis, member miles can be earned as Strava-logged indoor rides with a cap of the maximum possible combined Zwift + outdoor club rides that week beginning April 1, 2020

  4. Group rides in-person are not currently considered responsible and will not be credited for club miles. Check out BABC’s plans for modified outdoor club rides starting in April!
