WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Our big ride, the Sizzlin' Century, is coming up on August 19th and we are looking for some volunteers to help us out. We need people to help out day of the event as SAG drivers or to man the SAG stops (no experience needed for SAG stops, just willing to greet riders and hand out food/drinks to the riders as they stop by! It is LOADS of fun!). We are also looking for people to bake some cookies, brownies, etc for us to have at the SAG stops for our riders. If you are willing to do this, they can be dropped off at the Bible Baptist Church from 9am-3pm Friday August 18th OR the morning before the event (7am). If you can help in ANY way, please call or text Tom at his cell phone (765) 2 7 1 - 0 0 1 2. If you want to make some tasty baked goods, you can let Tom know, or just drop them by, if you decide to do it last minute (we never turn down yummy tasty treats for the riders!). THANK YOU SO MUCH! The event is SO much fun not only to ride, but also to volunteer for! ... See MoreSee Less

Hi All! Many of you may have seen our joint event with the Kokomo Farmers Market on June 17th for "Bike to Market" day! It is going to be a lot of fun, but we are also looking for anyone that would like to help out as a volunteer with Break-Away Bike Club! We are looking for people that want to help with a few fun events AT the Farmers Market (anytime between 9-noon) with the fun kids bike obstacle course (it's simple & easy), assist with simple bike maintenance & fittings for kids (mostly), and also if any you want to help ride with us to (9am) or from (noon) the market (starting point still being determined). We already have a ride leader, so it would just be to assist in case we have a large crowd. It will be an easy, slow paced route mostly on the trails. If you would like to volunteer, please send an email to daun44@gmail.com with your availability and preferred activity!

Thanks in advance for helping to make this a WONDERFUL event for the whole community!

Hello Bike Friends! We posted this a few weeks ago, but wanted to send out a reminder for those of you that may have missed it, especially with the weather being so beautiful.

The National Bike Challenge is going on NOW! It actually started on May 1 and it is out there to encourage everyone to get out and ride! It's a fun way to have friendly competition with yourself, friends, others in your area and even nationally. You need a Strava account to take part, join "Team DiscoverHCT" if you want to join several other riders here in Howard County (many club members are already part of that team), then go to nationalbikechallenge.org to link them up.

Right now, our little team is ranked #51 NATIONALLY, and it's kind of fun to watch us compete with some pretty big teams in much bigger areas!

So think about joining and encourage your friends to join, because while it's fun to compete, the most important this is that it encourages people to get out and ride! Get some exercise and be healthy

Due to some issues with editing/updating on the website (breakaway.club), Daun is having to make some emergency changes to the entire site tonight that will likely have most pages unavailable or in questionable states throughout the rest of the evening. We apologize for the inconvenience, but promise the site will be back and maybe even better than ever once it's done (definitely more maintainable!). We will post once everything is stable and back to normal! Thank you for your patience! ... See MoreSee Less
